End of Silence show #06

Featured website: Dischord Records. Dischord Records has been the premier label and distributor for independent music, and has influenced two generations of DIY and indie artists. Formed by former Teen Idles bassist Ian MacKaye (later of Minor Threat, Fugazi, Egg Hunt, Skewbald/Grand Union, and The Evens) and drummer Jeff Nelson (later of Minor Threat, Egg Hunt, Skewbald/Grand Union, and Three) in 1980, Dischord began releasing songs by local punk bands in the DC area, kick-starting the DC Hardcore scene. Thirty years later, the company is still going strong, selling records through the mail, and playing host to a new generation of independent musicians. Alumni of Dischord include Minor Threat, Youth Brigade, SOA, the Faith, Rites of Spring, Dag Nasty, Fugazi, High Back Chairs, Slant 6, Simple Machines, El Guapo, Joe Lally, and the Evens.
